Our Vision

To develop independent and right thinking individuals in the local community who will in turn help nurture a progressive and environment conscious movement among the people.

TREE Foundation is a Registered Charitable Trust, which was started on October 15, 2002, primarily engaged in Environment Education, Sea Turtle Conservation and Community Development.

TREE Foundation is inspired and guided by the world famous environmentalist Dr. Jane Goodall and is a member of Roots and Shoots International Network, of the Dr. Jane Goodall Institute.

Through our actions we strive to bring about an awareness and commitment to protect nature and all her creations by educating people in environmental protection.

The target group includes the five fishing communities residing along the East Coast, in Periya Neelangarai Kuppum (Neelangari), Injambakkam, Panaiyur, Nainar Kuppum (Utthandi) and Reddy Kuppum (Kanattur) which cover about 13 km.

Our Primary Concerns:

1. Community Development - Helping to evolve a symbiotic and harmonious co-existence with nature
2. Environment Education for fisher-folk and children in schools along the East Coast of Chennai
3. Sea Turtle Conservation – Olive Ridley (Protected under Schedule – I, as highly endangered species)

“Only if we understand can we care
Only if we care will we help
Only if we help shall all be saved.”
